Sanjivani Women’s Hospital was founded in 2018. It’s a family-oriented healthcare facility dedicated to improving the user experience. It was born out of a desire to provide superior specialized women’s healthcare that is unavailable in other ‘General’ Private Hospitals. Our goal is to provide the most professional health care, focused on women and their babies, both unborn and newborn, by bringing all women’s services under one roof.
We have built, from the ground up, the most modern facility in Trinidad with a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere. We feature exceptional customer service, home-cooked meals, and holistic care that is delivered in an environment of beauty and comfort, all with ‘her’ in mind. The Sanjivani Story
In Hindu mythology, Sanjivani is a herb that has the power to restore life in this world. In the legendary story in Uttarkhand of the Ram Charit Manas (Ramayan), Lakshman is badly wounded in battle by Indrajit, and Hanuman is sent to fetch this Herb from the Dronagiri mountains in the Himalayas. Unable to identify the plant, Hanuman brings the entire mountain to the battlefield in Sri Lanka. The Physician Sushena was able to go up the mountain and identify the life-giving herb and restore Lakshman.
Philosophically, the restoration of healthy (san) practices into our lives (jivan) is Sanjivani. It was therefore felt that Sanjivani is an appropriate name for an Institution, dedicated to looking after fertility, mothers, unborn and newborn babies, and to women and their children thereafter.
It’s a Family thing…
Dr. Prakashbhan Persad and his wife, Mrs. Shastri Persad, had a dream of opening a hospital dedicated solely to the advancement of women’s healthcare. Thusly, they both founded Sanjivani Women’s Hospital in 2018. After completing specialization in their respective fields, their children, Dr. Vashisht Persad (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) and Dr. Jyothi Persad (General & Aesthetic Dentistry) joined them in 2020. They, along with our team and our patients, form the “Sanjivani Family”.
