Anaesthesia

Anesthesia
Anesthesiology refers to the field regarding the total peri-operative care of patients before, during and after surgery. In the past, most procedures involved general anaesthesia. However, recently focus has shifted towards more regional techniques and multi-modal management strategies that have proved more effective in managing post-operative pain. No matter what your needs, our team has got you covered!
Our Services
General Anaesthesia
Most people know this as “going to sleep”, and involves inducing a state of controlled, temporary loss of consciousness. This is the technique generally employed for most major surgeries.
Sedation
Sedation refers to a lighter level of anaesthesia, where the patient is not fully conscious. In general, this is used for shorter, minor procedures. Advantages include faster awakening, and no need for intubation.
Regional Anaesthesia
These techniques involve specific nerve blocks, that reduce/block sensation from a particular body areas. Epidurals during labour, and spinal anaesthesia that allows for mommies to be awake during caesarean sections, are some classic examples.
